Guzco builds the infrastructure European e-commerce merchants use to detect, prevent and resolve fraud, chargebacks and payment disputes before they become financial losses.
Every payment method, card network and carrier has its own evidence requirements, formats and deadlines. A merchant selling via Klarna, PayPal, Mastercard, Visa and Amex is facing a different rulebook for each one. Most merchants write the losses off, not because the cases can't be won, but because responding correctly at that volume is impossible by hand.
We connect directly to payment providers, shop platforms, carriers and returns systems, turn fragmented order data into structured evidence, and file representments automatically inside each provider's deadline. Existing tools were built for US card flows and don't take the work over end to end.
Guzco is backed by investors with deep payment and e-commerce knowledge, works with merchants across Europe, and is based in the centre of Amsterdam.
Own the technical direction of the company.
As one of our first engineers, you build and scale the core product, make the architecture decisions that determine how far we can go, and hire the engineering team around you.
This is a role for a senior engineer who can push both a product and a team to the next level, with real founder-level ownership from day one.
What you'll do.
Talk directly to merchants, our ops team and payment partners to understand where the real money and friction are.
From PSP and platform integrations to the logic that decides what gets filed and when.
Design automation that runs against external deadlines, where a missed window is a lost case and money out the door.
Track what you ship in recovered euros and win rates, and iterate on what the numbers tell you.
Say no as confidently as you say yes. Focus is a feature.
Work alongside the founders on the architecture as the product grows, and help hire the engineering team around you.
Backend-heavy. You will have room to change what does not serve us, and the responsibility that comes with it.
What we're looking for.
Senior engineering profile with strong product judgment, able to decide what not to build as easily as what to build.
Strong backend and platform experience, comfortable with cloud infrastructure, APIs, data pipelines and third-party integrations.
Experience building in a high-growth VC-backed startup, ideally between Seed and Series B.
A track record of staying somewhere long enough to truly build and own something, rather than a series of short stints.
Able to build fast without creating the kind of technical debt that becomes fatal a year later.
Eager, a team player, and a fast learner. You want to build something meaningful from the ground up.
Strong communication skills, including with merchants, payment partners and non-technical colleagues.
Fintech, payments, disputes, chargebacks, or e-commerce experience.
Hands-on experience with GCP, Airflow, BigQuery and Postgres in production.
Experience integrating with payment providers, marketplaces, carriers or ERP and WMS systems.
Experience hiring, onboarding and leading engineers.
Familiarity with security and compliance frameworks such as SOC 2 or ISO 27001.
